  • Once there was a poor miller who had a beautiful daughter
  • He was having a conversation with the king and mentioned that his daughter could spin straw into gold
  • The king said he would like having a skill like that around and offered to bring her to his castle to test her
  • When the girl was brought to him, she was lead to a room full of straw
  • She was told to spin all night and if there was no gold, she would die
  • She did not know how to spin gold and began to cry
  • The door opened and a little man stepped in and asked her what was wrong
  • She explained her situation
  • The little man offered to spin it for her in exchange for her necklace
  • He took the necklace and began spinning
  • The next day, the king arrived to a room full of gold
  • The girl was taken to another room with more straw, the king had the same offer. Spin or die
  • The little man came again, and her first born child was to be given to the little man
  • The girl and the king married and had a baby
  • The little man came back wanting to take the baby
  • The queen began to cry, the little man gave her three days to learn his name and she could keep her child
  • She sent people to find out his name
  • One of the people saw the little man dancing, and singing his name
  • When the little man returned, she spoke his name and he fell
