Growth Mindset

Image
I have not heard of Carol Dweck until this assignment. However, there are personality theorists that have similar to hers. I am interested in learning more about mindset growth. I understood her point and how much those mindsets can impact a person. It took me a long time to stop saying "I can't do this" or "I don't know how to do this" and giving up. At some point I told myself that those negative thoughts weren't going to get me anywhere and started trying to be more optimistic. I am happy that I began to change my mindset, school has been less stressful because of it.   I was just discussing with my mom how everything was a competition and rewards only went to the smarter kids. She is an educator and uses the growth mindset and "yet" with her students. She is familiar with Carol Dweck.  I hope that more educators and parents/guardians are applying the growth mindset to our youth. It can help ease anxiety and pressure.

Introduction Post

Hello, my name is Daphne. My major is in Biology and my goal is to be a physician's assistant. The best class I took last semester was Introduction to Personality. It was fun to learn about personality theories and how each of the psychologists we studied differed from each other. I would say that an accomplishment for me and probably some others was pushing through such a stressful year.  I am a huge fan of horror movies and anime. I enjoy reading for fun when I have the time. Some of my favorite authors are Stephen King and Ernest Gaines. I can't say what the best book I have read is. There are many that I would say are my favorites from different genres.   I will listen to  just about any kind of music but if I had to choose a favorite, it would be classic soul and R&B. If you put my music player on shuffle, you might get a little bit of everything.  I don't have any hobbies but hopefully I will find some when I have the time. I have always wanted to try knitting an

Storybook Favorites

I read several storybooks. The creativity and thought that was put into the stories is impressive. I am looking forward to this project and hope I can be just as creative.  (Image Source : Personal Photo) https://sites.google.com/view/afrancadogsofmythology/home  This is the first story on the list but it caught my eye because I have always enjoyed animal tales in mythology. This storybook is about dogs in mythology. The blogger wrote stories about Greek, Egyptian and Aztec dogs and their adventures. I loved how they included images of their dogs and that one of the dogs looks similar to the dog described in the last tale. The personal touch made this anthology an exciting read. https://sites.google.com/view/webofstories/home The introduction to this blog immediately drew me in. I am familiar with African Folklore and was excited to read the blogger's version of how humans and animals connect in their stories. It is useful that they included facts about the struggles the citizens o

My Favorite Place - The Bay Area

One of my favorite places to visit is the Bay Area. My sister lives in San Francisco and I love going to visit her. This is a picture I took from her friends house in Berkeley, they have such a wonderful view. My camera could not capture the beauty of it all. Being outdoors with my dog is also a favorite place of mine.
