The Panther is a tale of a widow who leaves with her son to head to Grandmas. She left her two daughters behind to tend to the house. On their way to see grandma, the mother and boy met a panther. The panther convinced her to stop and rest. While she did, the panther devoured her and killed the boy. The panther saved the boy's bones and dressed in the woman's clothes.
Dressed in the mother's clothes, the panther went to the woman's home. The girls did not recognize the panther as their mother. After convincing them he was their mother, they let him in.
After the daughters were in bed, the panther began eating the boys bones. The girls asked what he was eating and he showed them a small finger. The girls realized the bones belonged to their brother and fled the house. They tricked the panther into climbing into a basket so he could get up a tree but they hurt him as they brought him up. The panther ran out of the basket and left.
As the girls were crying, they were approached different times by different men. Each man gave the girls an item to hide in different places in their home.
When the panther returned, he was harmed by the hidden items and eventually killed.
