- A young beauty named Afion, only wanted to marry the best-looking man in the country
- The men her parents chose for her were wealthy but not handsome
- Afion continued to disobey her parents
- A skull from the spirit land heard of Afion and wanted to possess her
- He borrowed the best looking parts from his friends and became a handsome man
- Afion saw the man, fell in love and brought him home
- Afion's parents did not want their daughter to marry a stranger but eventually agreed
- The skull took Afion to the spirit land and returned to his real self
- Afriad, she wanted to return home but the skull would not allow it
- The skulls mom and Afion befriended each other
- The skulls mom offered her safe passage home but on the condition that she not disobey her parents
- Afion went home, and laws were passed for parents to not allow their daughters to marry strangers
