 Snow White and the Biters

It is the middle of winter. The land beyond the castle is overrun with biters.

Snow-White’s stepmother despises her. As always, she sends her out on patrol to keep the biters from getting near the castle.

One day, when Snow-White returns to the castle, the guards would not allow her to enter. They tell her the queen has banished her to the land beyond the castle to never return. Snow-White was exhausted and it was starting to get dark. She was nervous since the biters seemed more agitated at night.

She left the castle gate tired and hungry. She rushed through the land as fast as her tired legs would allow her and stumbled upon a small run-down house. Assuming it was empty, she opened the door and ran in. With a heavy sigh of relief, she closed her eyes and leaned against the door.

She was happy to find shelter before nightfall. She heard something. A familiar sound of biters eating. She opened her eyes and to her surprise, she saw seven little biters sitting at a table eating rats. She immediately jumped up and reached for her bow and arrow. One of the little biters gasped in fright. Snow-White was shocked. She had never seen a biter react like that before.

With a mouthful of rat entrails, one of the little biters said, “Chomp smack smomf. Please d d d don’t kill us. We are of no harm to you. We just want to live here in peace.”

Snow-White could not believe her eyes and ears, “ How are you able to speak? Every biter I have come across wants nothing more than to eat and has never spoken a word! How is it that you are aware?”

“ We saw the queen turning men into biters. When she noticed us, she placed a curse on us. We look like biters and have their hunger but we are fully aware of everything. When someone comes to cause us harm, we will know. That is our punishment for discovering her secret.”

Author's note: I have been a fan of horror since I was a small child. I especially love zombies. I have been wanting to write a story about zombies this whole semester. So, I decided to write about Snow-White and zombies. This story is a short one but I plan on expanding it for my portfolio, since it will be my last story.

  1. Hi Daphne!
Your title was definitely intriguing and made me want to read more! I figured that the biters were zombies. I really like how you changed your story from the original Snow White. This story seems to be more focused on the interaction between the seven biters and Snow White. Also, the evil queen cursed the dwarves instead of Snow White. Great job!
